Construction is only a few short weeks away from completion and activity on site is very heavy as the final details come together.

The building envelope is nearing completion with work underway to install exterior sunshades and the final windows. Site work continues with paving, and construction of the bio-retention planters. On the interior walls are framed, enclosed and painted. Ceilings and light fixtures are being installed. Tile work in restrooms and casework installation has started.
The building exterior envelope is now almost complete. The remaining windows and curtain wall segments are being installed and hardscape site work has begun. On the interior frames for doors and borrowed lites are in place, drywall is being hung, finished, and painted and ceiling framing is well underway.
Progress on site continues as the building exterior is quickly taking shape. Masonry facing is complete in several sections and windows are being installed closely behind. The first sunshades are up on the south facade. In the interior most partitions have been framed and above-ceiling and in-wall mechanical, electrical and plumbing work is nearly completion. Wall close-ins and final hardscaping will start soon.
Exterior walls are almost fully sheathed, with air barrier application and exterior masonry going up in quick succession. Behind the masonry work will come windows and curtain wall in the next few weeks. Roofing installation is underway and the building will soon be dried in. On the interior there is a lot of activity with above-ceiling MEP systems, interior partition framing, and stair construction.
The building exterior is starting to take shape. Exterior steel stud work is underway on all building faces and sheathing has begun on the south facade. Exterior masonry will soon follow. On the interior, above-ceiling building systems components are being installed and the main stair enclosure is rising out of the basement level.
The steel frame is now complete and final concrete pours for slab on grade and elevated floors will be in place soon. Masonry enclosures for stairs and elevators are underway. Stud framing for exterior walls has begun and will be followed soon by sheathing, waterproofing and masonry cladding.
Steel work has begun and the building is now quickly rising from the ground and starting to take shape. Over the next few weeks the full building building footprint will become recognizable.
Final foundation walls are being cast and waterproofing and back-filling work continue. On the basement level underslab piping is in place and masonry work has started for stairs and elevators. The first steel has arrived on site and will be set soon. The west end parking area has temporary paving and will serve as the lay down area for steel and masonry in the coming weeks. Look for the building to start taking shape as the steel goes up.
Foundation work is nearing completion with waterproofing and back-filling already starting on completed walls. Other activity on-site includes installation of below-slab piping and conduit and preparation for pouring concrete floor slabs on grade.
Progress continues on site with excavation, re-bar setting, formwork and concrete pouring. The basement is starting to take shape and construction will soon start to move above grade.

Work is in full swing on the construction site. Underground utilities are being installed, excavation and earth-moving and the start of footings and foundation walls.
A ground breaking ceremony was held on October 22nd at THEARC's campus to celebrate the start of the Phase 3 project. Participants included representatives for each partner who will have a home in the new building along with distinguished guests: LaRuby May (Councilwoman for Ward 8), and Mayor Muriel Bowser.
